A Courtly Affair, is the creative release of Dr. Brittany Sim, a PhD student at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. After enrolling full-time to take full advantage of the rigorous program and all of its opportunities, she left the classroom after 15 years. After hours daily of combing through monographs and archival resources, she missed the beauty of retelling historical stories that had been the center of her life and wanted to have some fun.

One of the most dedicated Anglophiles you’ll meet, this blog will feature various pieces of British history throughout time, however there will be an emphasis on 15th-18th centuries. As an avid watcher of all things BBC and BritBox, there will also be reviews of series, films and of course book reviews and suggestions. From time to time, there will also be some spicy “Historical Hot Takes”!
